About Our Lavender Oil

The essential oil of lavender is obtained by steam distillation, using the purest of well water, of the freshly cut  flowering tops and stalks.  Care must be taken to get the flowers from the plant to the distillation equipment.  For this reason, specially designed and engineered lavender harvesting equipment was developed. On-farm distillation takes place to insure the quality of the extracted oil.

The essential oil from the lavender plants is a clear yellow to straw yellow, and is a mobile liquid with a fresh, sweet, strong lavender flower aroma.  Oil from Northwest Varieties, when grown in Oregon, has an excellent lavender aroma and is less harsh than conventional lavender oil  because of its lower camphor content.  Specifications of the oil can be adjusted by blending oil from different    harvest dates.  (Specifications of Northwest Lavender Oil are available upon request.)

Lavender essential oil concentrate is used extensively in perfumery: colognes, lotions, soaps, cosmetics, disinfectants, and air-fresheners.
